LIFE IS..........

LIFE IS..........

The loud sound of my phone’s alarm always starts my day.

A sip from a hot cup of coffee…

A bite from a buttered toast…

“This will be a long day at work again. Better not be late.”

After a long day, I finish work. I go home.

I eat dinner while watching TV.

Finally, sleep. Then repeat the same routine all over again the next day.

Is this my life? Am I made for this? Am I meant to be in this position until the end? What really is my purpose? Why am I here? These questions bothered me for quite a while now. I know that almost all the people encountered these questions sometime in their lives also. But answering these questions will lead us to the realization of our existence. These questions will probe our goals in life. I have tried ignoring these questions before, but one thing I realized, we have to face these questions if we are to face the truth about our own reality.

In the world that we live in, a good career, family, and status is considered a successful life already. Many known people are considered successful already but they still seek to do more. It seems that they feel that they are “missing” something and that they still seek to satisfy the hunger and thirst for something. One topic that can’t be separated with purpose is “happiness”.

Aristotle once said, “Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.” If we would actually observe, happiness drives a human being. From the clothes that we choose to wear, the food that we eat, the people we hang out with, the hobbies that we do, and all the things similar, it is because of the mere fact that we are happy with it. Deep down, we all want to satisfy ourselves and do the things that give us a positive experience.

Harold S. Kushner though has a different take on that. In fact, according to him, “You do not become happy by pursuing happiness. You become happy by living a life that means something.” Happiness equals a life that means something. His thought is agreed on by the infamous Albert Einstein when he said, “Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value”.

Albert Einstein and Harold Kushner pointed out the fact that we need to live a life that matters, to become an inspiration, and to be involved in making a change for the better. Wealth, riches, career, and possessions, though considered important, are not a formula for real success to many people in this current generation. People are becoming more aware of giving importance to the things that last rather concentrate on the temporary pleasures of this world.

Eventually, all of us will leave this world one way or the other, and that thought makes the people want to leave a “permanent footprint.” We strive to make an impact. We want to be a part of the solution to the problems of this world. We want to inspire, motivate, and raise awareness. No matter where we are at life now, big or small, there is something that we can do to start a change for the better. Being someone that inspires… being a recipe to the problems of the world… being someone who ignites the flame… We may actually have found our purpose and this is a real treasure no man can take. These kinds of treasure neither fade nor vanish. We can be the treasures of the world. The treasure no man can forget…
